Deciding to get an MBA is probably one of the most challenging decisions to make. And once made, choosing the right MBA program seems like a difficult task. However, with brick and mortar MBAs and MBAs online to choose from, it's actually easy.
There are three types of MBA programs to choose from: a brick and mortar school, an MBA online program with a brick and mortar school, or an MBA online-only program. Choosing between the three types of schools is pretty easy. Attending at a school campus requires time, location near a school and the ability to fit all the classes into a reasonable schedule. For these reasons, the trend toward MBAs online is rising and being met by both brick and mortar and online schools.
If having the brick and mortar school name is important, then by all means, choose an online program offered by a brick and mortar school. The biggest stumbling block to these programs is generally the residency requirement. For an MBA online, most brick and mortar schools have campus attendance requirements, which are typically between two weeks and a month.
There are now many respectable online schools that offer an Online MBA programs. One advantage of these programs is the ability to choose a school that requires online lecture attendance or a school that has either provided all the lectures in a webinar format or as paper materials. Learning style frequently dictates the choice here, if hearing the material is a requirement for good distance learning education, then choosing a school with online lectures will result in a great fit and successful learning experience. If reading the material and completing the assignments is sufficient for retention of business theories, then choosing a school that features scheduled lectures may unnecessarily complicate the learning experience.
To round out the success of getting an MBA, one other factor is key - money. Many corporations have a tuition reimbursement program. More and more common is a tuition reimbursement program limited to a specific school the corporation has chosen, in part so they can accurately calculate projected costs to budget around. Flexibility and comfort is key here. If the tuition reimbursement is a requirement, it won't matter what learning style is best or about the residency requirement, the decision is made by the corporate human resources department. If there is freedom of choice, explore grants, loans and scholarships from professional organizations to fund the appropriate distance learning MBA program that meets your needs.
There are other some other considerations, of course. The quality of the professors, whether the student body is accustomed to working and making professional connections online, and career services. Choose wisely, and learn a lot!
Online education is preferred mostly by working personals, soldiers, home maker and physically disabled persons. Working personals took most of it as they experience a flexibility which allows them to study at the midst of their career.
